Caitlin Sullivan

BME Ph.D. Student

Caitlin is a PhD student in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. She grew up in Western Massachusetts and graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences with a minor in Biological Sciences. Caitlin previously worked at various Biotech startups in Boston, supporting pre-clinical studies and assay development. Her work focused primarily on cancer vaccines and drug development for rare diseases of mineralization. 

As a part of the Systems Immunology Lab at UVA, Caitlin's research focuses on maternal-neonatal immunology. Specifically, utilizing systems biology approaches to investigate how social determinants of health and demographic factors affect the placental and systemic immune landscape during pregnancy. 

Outside of the lab, Caitlin enjoys connecting with long-distance friends through video games and spending time with her local friends (and their pets).  She also loves being an auntie to her brother's dog and human kids.
